"Eco-conscious options"

By Lawrence Houck, Columbus Monthly

When it comes to eco-friendly flooring, the two most popular options are bamboo and cork, Steele says. A popular bamboo flooring made by EcoTimber recently received high marks from Consumer Reports when it was compared to all prefinished flooring—not just green flooring, Steele notes. It's made with fibrous bamboo that's been compressed and prefinished. "This one particular line of flooring has incredible durability," Steele says. "And it comes in good price points." (PDF)

By Keith Arnold, The Daily Reporter

Though the two-and-a-half-year-old business encompasses new builds, renovations and any sort of building project, commercial or private, Greenovate's Web site—greenovate.com—suggests the best green action for any homeowner is transforming an existing home into one that operates more efficiently and healthily. "Green remodeling can be done in small ways and doesn't necessarily have to encompass the entire home," the Web site outlined. "It's so easy to pick and choose elements that fit each particular homeowner." (PDF)
