Tour a green building
By Amy Howell, The Cincinnati Enquirer, Jan. 17, 2009
Curious about LEED construction? Take a free tour of the Harold C. Schott Education Center (pictured) at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.
The center is one of the few buildings in the country to earn a silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
Chuck Lohre, a board member from the USGBC’s local chapter, will discuss the building’s green features – including low-flow plumbing fixtures, solar panels, renewable building materials and recyclable finishes – during an hour-long tour on Jan. 29.
The tour will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Schott Education Center, at the corner of Erkenbrecher and Dury avenues. Register by e-mailing chuck@lohre.com.
